Vocal Health

Nothing can take the place of solid vocal technique; however, the voice is a biological instrument, and as such the voice can only be as healthy as the body is. Please see the Do’s and Don’ts section of my teaching website for some ideas on how to keep your voice healthy.

Following, are some products which I have found very helpful in keeping my voice sounding as healthy and clear as possible. I hope you enjoy them too!

Throat Sprays

Good throat sprays can help relieve dryness because of weather or being indoors where the furnace or air conditioning has been running. Also, when you are suffering from stage fright, it is possible to get very dry in the throat so spraying your throat down before a performance can be a life saver.

Inhalers

Breathing Steam is one of the most time-honored and effective remedies for a voice that is tired, dry or hoarse. There have been so many times that I have not been in good voice when a 10 or 15 minute steam got me back in shape in no time at all. I recommend personal steamers to all my voice students. Please see an ENT if you are experiencing chronic problems with your voice or throat.
